WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE ATTEND GRACE REFORMED?

Our congregation is made up of many different ages and backgrounds. You’ll likely find people who are a lot like you, and others who are quite a bit different from you. What gives us the unity we believe you’ll see, and the warmth and welcome we believe you’ll feel, isn’t shared demographics, but a shared faith in Jesus and a shared commitment to love and serve him and others in his name.

WHAT IS THE SUNDAY SERVICE LIKE?

Our worship is structured like a conversation with God, that includes things like the Bible, singing, prayers, a sermon and Communion. Be sure to grab a bulletin on the way in which will have all this outlined. And if you have any questions, please ask!

The feel of our service is both reverent and relaxed, because we take God seriously, not ourselves. We believe God should be approached with awe, wonder, and humility. We also believe that our God knows who we are, where we’ve been, and how we’ve come – and that with that perfect knowledge still invites us into a relationship with him through Jesus. This sets us free from false spirituality and having to pretend that we are always okay. And it allows us the freedom to joyfully celebrate God’s mercy, while still honestly mourning the brokenness and sin in our lives.

WHAT TO WEAR?

There is no dress code. On Sunday there might two people wearing ties (one of them is usually our pastor). The rest wear anything from jeans and t-shirts, to slacks and collard shirts. Shorts are common in the summer. Our priority isn’t what we all wear, but on gathering together to worship God with trusting hearts.

WHAT ABOUT CHILDREN?

Children are completely welcome, as you’ll discover by how many are running around! If you have children, we are delighted to have them worship with us in the worship service! We encourage you to help them worship and quietly answer questions they may have during worship.

However, we also know that being able to focus on worship without having to attend to your little ones is a blessing. So, if you would like, there is nursery care available for 0-4 year olds during the worship service.

Because we care about the safety of all our children we want you to know that all our nursery workers are communicant members, have undergone background checks, and received child abuse prevention and awareness training.

HOW LONG DOES THE SERVICE LAST?

Our service lasts about 1.5 hours, with lots of opportunities to stand and sit and sing and pray, as well as to listen and meditate on God’s word. Afterward we have a fellowship meal in the basement starting at 12. You are welcome to attend and enjoy a time of fellowship and conversation.

WILL I HAVE TO DO ANYTHING?

We won’t put any pressure on you. You don’t have to give anything in the offering, stand up and introduce yourself, signup to serve or anything like that. We want you to be free to participate as much as you want, or to just sit back and observe.

We celebrate communion weekly for those who are baptized and profess the Christian faith. If you are not a Christian, or you are not sure, you can simply stay seated when the congregation comes forward, or walk up and pass by the elements. Whichever you choose there is absolutely no judgment. And if you want to explore taking communion, professing faith, or being baptized, we invite you to talk with our pastor.

We’re glad you found us! We hope that you will visit us so we can get to know you better!
